Student support

Support built around independent learners

Learning online doesn't mean learning alone. Every student has access to academic and personal support throughout their time with us.

Academic support
Direct help from the course teacher with concepts, assignments, and study strategies throughout the term.
Teacher office hours
Scheduled live virtual office hours each week, plus asynchronous messaging for questions in between.
Guidance & course planning
COLA provides guidance related to course selection, prerequisites, and pathways. During the initial year, the student’s home or records-holding school remains responsible for diploma tracking and the Individual Pathways Plan.
English-language support
Additional guidance for students building English proficiency alongside their coursework.
French-language support
Support for students studying French as a Second Language, from a teacher available in both languages.
Accommodations
Individualized accommodations and, where applicable, modifications are planned with students and families.
Technology support
Help with platform access, login issues, and course navigation whenever you need it.
Parent communication
Regular progress updates for parents and guardians of students under 18, including early notice of any concerns.
Student wellbeing & referrals
Staff connect students and families to community mental health and wellness resources as needed.
