Who can apply, and what you'll need

COLA welcomes inquiries from Ontario, elsewhere in Canada, and abroad. Ontario secondary students may also express interest in the no-fee Founding Student Cohort being offered during COLA's initial Ministry inspection process.

Free Founding Student Cohort

A small number of Ontario secondary students can be considered for teacher-led online learning at no cost during COLA's initial inspection process. This opportunity is open to students attending a school and students learning at home. COLA cannot guarantee, grant or record an OSSD credit unless and until the Principal receives written credit-granting authority following a successful inspection.

View Eligibility and Details
Ontario students
Students currently attending an Ontario secondary school may inquire about individual courses. Homeschool students may express interest in the Founding Student Cohort without naming a current school. Formal enrolment requires a documented OSR, OST and reporting arrangement, and COLA cannot grant or record a credit while authority is pending.
Out-of-province students
Students living elsewhere in Canada may inquire about future individual courses. Prerequisite, student-record, and reporting arrangements will be confirmed before any authorized credit enrolment.
International students
International applicants may inquire about future individual courses. Prerequisite, student-record, and reporting arrangements will be confirmed before any authorized credit enrolment. COLA will not act as the diploma-issuing school during its initial phase.

Records requested after preliminary review

Do not send identification, transcripts, report cards, OEN documentation or other sensitive student records through a public website form. If an applicant appears eligible, COLA will provide a secure process for the records required to complete review.

Identification
A government-issued ID or birth certificate confirming the student's legal name and date of birth.
Previous report cards or transcripts
Official transcripts or report cards from the student’s most recent school, showing completed and in-progress credits.
Learning and student-record information
The current school and records contact, if one exists. Homeschool families without a current school may submit homeschool records or portfolio evidence. Before any authorized credit enrolment, COLA will document the applicable OSR, OST, reporting, and diploma responsibilities.
Prerequisite verification
Proof of any prerequisite course required for the course being requested, matched against Ontario curriculum equivalency.
English-language expectations
Courses are delivered in English. Students whose prior schooling was not in English may be asked to demonstrate sufficient proficiency to complete coursework independently.
Technology requirements
Access to a computer or tablet, reliable internet, and a webcam and microphone. Students use an individually verified Google account approved for course access. Account ownership, privacy, identity verification and acceptable-use requirements are documented during enrolment.
Admissions review
The Principal reviews each expression of interest and available learning records to assess readiness, prerequisites where applicable, technology access, and fit with the selected cohort or future course.
Registration agreement
Before access is granted, students (or a parent/guardian, if under 18) sign the applicable participation or registration agreement covering attendance, conduct, records, privacy, withdrawal terms, and any fees. The founding cohort has no tuition or fee to submit an expression of interest.
